wtf??????????? please read
ok heres the deal i just got done building my motor got it complete and started it up. it started up and seemed to be ok it wouldnt idle and i had an oil leak coming from the oil cooler so i shut it off and fixed the leak. i went to start it back up and the ****** wouldnt start. so i did a compression check and it came out to 105 all around WTF????? here is the basics on my motor
darton solid deck 84mm b16
je pistions w/ federal mogul rings
crower rods
gsr head combustion chambers to 84mm and vs and retainers
arp head bolts
the car is a turbo and i only had it running for like 2 mins. any ideas on what my problem could be? any comments on the head studs? i really appreciate any help you guys could give me im just really frusterated with this thing .
thanks,
Adam

105's damn bro something isnt right. Goto a mechanic and have them do a leak down/compresion test. I think you might of fucked up doing it who knows. Good luck mang
105's could be cause the camshaft is outa line???
ie 45' off or 120' off
or something like that - low comression cause the valves are open at the wrong time...
check your head?
this MAY help...

Did you line up your cam gears so the your camshafts are lined up right? My friend's Civic Si ran fine at the race track and then two days later his car wouldn't start. Turns out his cams were off 90 degrees! His car was Jackson Supercharged though.
Well, the rings may not be seated all the way too. After all,the motor is freshly rebuilt...right?and i agree with the cams being off a bit,i had that happen to me also
.Hope things work out well!

Car should start and run with 105 lbs compression. Rings may not thave had time to seat yet. Don't sweat that yet. Check all the normal things first. Do you have spark? Do you have fuel in the rail? Don't look to your engine build for the problem. Maybe u just ran out of gas? Plugs foul out real easy with a new motor start-up. Keep it simple first.
I had the same problem new motor rough real rough idle, did timing, cams were off, adjusted right. Now the motor runs good with me pushing on the peddle but won't idle by itself. What gives? Is it the rings do motors die with new pistons when you first start it up do you have to wait till its broken in? Or is it crank walk or loose rod bearings?

Did you remember to keep the throttle wide open while doing the test? Most of the time people get really low numbers like that is because they forgot to keep the gas pedal all the way down while doing the test.
Good luck,

everything checks out man!! no one ever knows the answer to this questions no search checks out either. My older bro doesn't help either. Hes to busy to come take a look at it. Just tell me if the rings need to broken in before it idles good or is it my 7.5lbs flywheel.. by the way i have 9.1 Je pistons and 3angle 3stage port.
the car is cold
that explains the compression
and also if its a newly rebuilt motor, the rings arent seated fully yet.
relax get it ilding and drive it like a break in and THEN do tests.

ok heres the update i was told to put a teaspoon of oil in the chamber through the spark plug hole and the do a CR test again so i did and my compression #'s went up to 160ish so im thinking its the rings right? so for the hell of it i threw in the plugs and tried to start it and it fired right up smoking like a champ but still it ranthen died i guess after the oil burned off about 30 sec. or so. my cams were lined up to TDC as well as the no.1 piston. anyone got any ideas on this before i go rip the ****** apart again? i know the rings are spaced correctly so that is not an issue i didnt check the gap however it couldnt be that far off to cause this problem could it? i really appreciate any additional help you guys could give me.
thanks,

dude your running a compression test on a cold motor and low compression pistons.
break the engine in then do the test
i got a 180 acorss the board on my stock b16 motor when it was cold.
thats the problem.

So, when you're on the gas, it stays running, but when you let off, it dies. Have you checked for a vacuum leak? Think about this for a minute, if it'll stay running when your foot's on the gas, it could be that you are not getting enough fuel @ idle for the amount of air getting to the cylinders. The cause of this would probably be unmeasured air getting into the engine via a vacuum leak. If everything is good, then take it out for a *gentle* spin around the block a few times, making sure that the engine gets to operating temperature. Pull it into your parking space & see if it'll idle.
I'd say the most likely culprit would be a vacuum leak. If not then I'd say that your timing belt may be off, or your cam gears need adjusted. As was already stated, check the basics first.
BTW, No one has the answer because the possible problems with your engine are numerous. There is no way for anyone to say "hey, this is definitely what is wrong with your engine", unless they are physically working on it. All that we can do is give you advice & things for you to check, then wait for your response. Comments like "no one here every knows the answers" just **** people off. Pissing people off is the wrong way to go about getting help with a problem.
Also, just for future reference, if you type a more specific subject than "please read", you'll get fewer responses from people that can't help you.
