I was running Cobalt GT Sports for Expo 6 and ran them for about a month afterwards. They felt good on the track and the street but I could not handle the amount of dust they were putting out and the squeeling under light breaking. No big deal now I have a set of track pads and rotors and street pads and rotors... Good luck on finding the right set up.

Cobalt GT sports

They make a lot of dust but the dust is very wheel friendly. Wipes off easily. Also, if you apply Lubrimoly to the back of the pad upon installation, squeeling will be little if any. I know this because I am on my second set. I didn't apply Lubrimoly to the back side of the first set and they squeeled quite a bit. Now with the Lubrimoly its very quiet with an occasional squeek.

I don't track so I can't speak for tracking performance, but I'm currently running Hawk HPS on my ITR for daily driving and it is awesome. No squeeling what so ever. The dust is very minimal.

Larkin,

Where would one pick up this Lubrimoly and it is applied to the non pad material side correct?? What creates the squeeling and how does this help limit it?? Just wondering.

Most Auto parts stores carry it.
ps. I'm on the Cobalt GT-S bandwagon too.

It won't get points for originality in this topic , but I love the Cobalt GT Sport pads...

i really liked axxis ultimate as well

i didnt mind having dusty pads cuz i had black rotas on my car.. so i never had to clean it but now i am back to stock rims. and omg it's nuts. lol

anybody here had both axxis ultimate and cobalt GTS?
how would they compare dust wise? and performace wise?

TIA

Of all the pads I've tried, only stock has dusted and squeaked less than the Cobalt Sport GT.

And either someone sprayed my wheels with Teflon, or the dust from the Cobalts is much easier to clean off than any of my previous pads.

Wear on both the pads and rotors has been outstanding as well. Great all-around pads.

I think your asking for a product that doesn't exist. I don't know of any performance pads that don't dust. Why not just switch the pads out before you race?

Even after months of cake, I've never had trouble getting GT Sports dust off, and it is a "lighter shade" than other dust, more greyish...

I can't say the same about the black SpecVR dust that I innocently left on for a couple weeks because I was too lazy, years ago... live and learn...

I like my Ferodo DS2500 front pads a lot. Great paddle feel, consistant performance through out the day on the street & lapping events. It does make some very fine dust but it's VERY easy to clean them off. And it's as quiet as stock!

OEM would work, as well. Minimal dusting and good performance.

I've gone through a ton of different pads including Cobalt GT, Ultimates, HP+, HPS, Porterfields, Pagid blues and oranges. The lastest pads that I bought are Carbotech Bobcats. These have to be the best of all the pads I've tried. Almost no dust. I can go 3 weeks before I notice that there's brake dust on my front wheels. The rears currently have Pagid blues and the rears always get dusty before the fronts.

They're great for street driving/autox as they have great initial bite. They're supposed to have a decent temperature range so that you can use them for track use, but I haven't tried them on the track since I use track dedicated pads. I bought mine from brakeswap.com and if call or email them, they'll probably give you a discount.

The thing i have noticed about pads that produce little dust is that the eat rotors. I had A'pexi A750 pads (virtually no dust) which wore a new set of rotors in 15/16k miles and the pads had approx 50% meat left on them when i changed the rotors. I now have axxis ultimates which i think are as severe on rotors AND are dusty as hell...but the brake bite on them is way too good to give them up. I might try cobalts next...just to see.

too much brake fade, imo.

cobalt gt sports x 10102912812

just on the front though. i'd leave (and left) the oems in the rear. if you're worried about brake dust, i find waxing my wheels a very effective way to keep them clean for future washes.

I never had any brake fade with the OEM pads. Well, maybe in their first track session, the first time they got really hot - the same kind of "green pad syndrome" you can run into with lots of different kinds of pad. They were fine after that for the life of the pad. < shrug >

But I like the GT Sport better. They have more bite and they last longer with track use.

Love the GT-Sports, dunno if you can still get them though.

According to that brakeswap.com site:

Bobcat: Superior street/autocross pad. Ceramic based friction material is extremely rotor safe and offers outstanding performance when cold. Very low dusting, noise and excellent initial bite. Friction coefficient of 0.45 over its ENTIRE operating up to 900F. NOT recommended for track.

Currently running Endless CC-X Fr and Rr, not much dusk, BUT its not too easy to wash off. initial bite is ok, stopping power is great.

but for the price. I will go for Ferodo 2500 next time.
