Can Short Shifters Damage a Tranny and related Synchros... ?
Just wondering if there is any proof that a short shifter can be damaging to a Honda tranny and the synchros most importantly. Basically talking about a generic short shifter that reduces throw by 40%, like most in the import market. I just put one in and it feels much more precise, it is a bit stiffer but feels pretty good, but I worry about long term use. I'd be interested in any opinion on this topic.

Ive had one for 28,000 miles and still goin strong...had a short shifter break on me..but not the tranny...it really shouldnt affect it...if ive installed one you know it just places the tranny linkage lower to the ground by changing the fulcrum on the shifter.
only if you dont have a Kung Fu fighting shifter...
**** i really dont know and I wanted to use kung fu shifter...
Id like to know becasue I am lookign at the Cs with Mugen bushings

I'd like to know more about this too.
I've had a B&M Edge short shifter with the shift stabilizer kit on my GSR for at least 30k miles now, and I suspect the main shaft bearing in my tranny is what is causing really bad noises now. I'm rebuilding the tranny this summer as a result, but I can't think of what else could cause this damage other than excessive vibration from my short shifter and shift stabilizer kit. I think the only way a syncro can be damaged is from shifting too quickly.
Anyone else have experience w/ this?

C's Multi-adjustable shifter

I agree with those above, however; there may be a tendancy for the short shifter to encourage transmission abuse. If a guy is rough on his transmission with a stock shifter, it will only get worse with a short shifter. It is all up to the driver.
