Default D16z vs. D16y8?

How different is the D16z intake manifold to the D16y8? I'm looking at the Hondata heatshield gasket in a cheap attempt to get a little more hp. Would that gasket work on my D16y8, or would I be doomed to failure?

i realy dont see why it wouldnt work since the intake manifolds are all interchangable on d motors except the d16a1 and dohc zc

it would work but why would you waste money on that hondata gasket for a couple of measly ponies, ditch that D engine and get a B in there, or get some boost!

Y8 mani and headgasket

Although from what I've read in "how-to" about puttin ga Y8 mani on a D16Z6 it's definately NOT worth the time for the gain u get...g2 relocate some ****, but u already have a D16Y8 so the only thing u can do is put a Z6 head on there... supposedly the Z6 head flows better, so u kee the Y8 manis, block, and tranny, and put a Z6 head on there...should be pretty bolt on, put the Z6 head on there with a Y8 headgasket and u should be good to go...

That's what I'd do anyways :-\

Good point about the swap or boost. I'm still looking at a JR supercharger. Though, my friend is offering his turbo kit for $1,200. In terms of the gasket, I dunno, I was pretty bored, had a few bucks festering in the pocket, so i figured a little more hp couldn't hurt. Anyway, thanks all, for the replies.
