i wanted to know the differece between the jdm itr tranny and the us itr tranny other then the vin numbers....i have a tranny and it has no vin number but it has 2 dots there and like 2 lines ... a friend of mine told me that the jdm has the 2 dots but its really 2 holes but i'm not sure if its 2 dots or 2 wholes or if there is something else i can look at.

 

if it has those two holes, that mean the VIN number has been removed usually meaning that is a stolen part

This is a JDM engine & tranny. Note the two holes where the VIN would be. This is normal.



That said, a USDM trans could have the VIN plate removed and look like the picture above.. EXCEPT the USDM trans case will have printed on it "J4H LSD" (I could be slightly off) whereas the JDM unit will have "LSD N3E".

my brand new from acura tranny has the holes...no vins, and it came with a receipt....so it does not mean its stolen.

acura stole it too..lol

 

JDM tranny has 2 holes but no VIN. it should also have "N3E LSD" stamped on it but most of those stamps get wiped off easily

 

the holes on the jdm transmission are not threaded for bolts like the usdm ones are for bolts to hold the vin plagues in
