Question about car alarms
All right, when i bought my car it had this alarm that was pretty gay. When you activate it,rather than getting a "beep beep",it TALKS to you and says "SYSTEM ARMED" and when you de-activate it,it says "SYSTEM DISARMED",also when there's an intrusion it says "PROTECTED BY SECURITY SYSTEM!!STAND BACK!!"
It's embarassing as hell, luckily i found out how to activate it silently, but i was wondering if i can just replace the siren.Looking at ebay, most of them are dirt cheap

It depends on the alarm you have, if its just a voice module added to an alarm, then yes it should be easy, remove voice module and speaker and install a siren, or wire up the cars horn.
Can you find the alarm brain and get a make and model number off it?

Disassembled the siren????, You do not have to disassemble the siren/module, turning the voice off is done in programing using the remote.
Did you not read the "operation settings learn routine" on page 7 of install guide I linked to you?
The fuse, [in-line] is on the red power wire, probably within a few inch's or so of the plug to the siren/module, however you do not need to "power down" the unit for programing.

lol, yeah i couldnt find that fuse for anything
i did read it,step number one says if the system is not powered up go ahead and put the fuse in the fuse holder. If it's already powered up,power it down and back up for it to be able to go into learning mode or w/e.
so its on the red power wire?do you know what it may look like?the siren in the engine bay just has wires in a loom going in the cabin.
thnx

Are you reading the same thing I am?
Top of page 7, [of the link I gave you] "operations settings learn routine"
To enter Learn Routine
1. Arm the system
2. Disarm the system
3. Press and hold Buttons I and II on the transmitter until the unit generates a long chirp. The long chirp is followed by a short chirp indicating feature one has been accessed in the operations settings learn routine.
4. Release the transmitter buttons.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 to advance to the next feature, Each time you advance a feature, the feature number you have selected will be indicated by the number of short siren chirps.
You need to hear 5 short siren chirps then press and release transmitter button II, the siren should chirp 2 times, [feature 5- Voice off].
You do not need to power down and up for programing, where are you reading that?

</TD></TR></TABLE> are you sure you are pressing both at the same time, [not one of them a split sec, before the other one] and are you holding them long enough?
Try a reboot, disconnect the batt. neg. terminal, wait a few min. reconnect and try programing again.
If it does not work there may be something wrong with the unit.
You do know you have the silent arm/disarm feature, [press button II first then button I]
