Default sub questions

so i picked up two 12" alpine type E's a while back for $180. kind of on a whim on a best buy deal. anyway they are just sitting in my closet right now because my money has been going into other things. so im thinking a good way to get back to work on these would be to buy a box. not anything pricey but not anything that will fall apart or perform poorly. so ive been looking at sealed boxes on ebay, mdf 3/4" all that good stuff. has anyone bought a box off ebay? they seem to have a good price on them but i dont want to get ripped. any advice on boxes would also be appreciated.

Why don't you try and build your own? You can go to the Home Depot and pick up a sheet of 3/4" MDF. That way you can build the box to speaker specs and not be stuck with a generic size box.

It is an OK sub, MSRP is $150 US, you will need 500-600 watts of RMS power and a 1.6 to 3.4 cuft sealed box, .8 to 1.7 per driver.

As long as the box you get is 3/4" MDF and within that volume, you should be good to go... http://www.alpine-usa.com/imag...2.pdf

I would however run a bead of silicone along all the inside seams, and paint/spray the inside of box with a sealer, [I use fiberglass resin] to make sure box is airtight. 94
