running lean need help!!!
I am running lean I take it cause my spark plugs are white as can be at the moment and when I smog I am putting out high NOx...whats the best way to richen up the motor but I dont want to be spitting gas out the exhaust from not being burned...
its pm6 or whatever everything pretty much stock on my d16a6 but header and CAI....and o2 is new. and I was wondering why my car seems to get so hot I check out the spark plugs and they all white as can be but ring is black so I take it runs rich at startup(warmup)...
I would verify that you are, in fact, running lean with something like an EGT sensor or even wideband o2 sensor.
Just generally speaking...You could have a clogged fuel injector or fuel filter, bad MAP sensor, low fuel pressure, a leak in the exhaust system, a vacuum leak, a bad O2 sensor or a cracked PCV hose.
It's a hard problem to chase.

dont go by spark plug reading unless you do a full throttle plug chop. if you take the plugs out after the car has idled even just a little the plugs will read the last condition they saw -lean at idle is normal
there is no load on the engine, to read the plugs you have to have load on the engine like driving hard or up a hill and then just turn off at full throttle. then see what your plug looks like

any advice on why car is like this??? when I get money i be upgrading fuel rail and geting a fpr so I can have more controls over the fuel adjustment instead of just retarding the timing to keep it fmr leaning out...
