Default Car running too rich what do i do?

so i have a pretty much stock LS, and i got a CEL for fuel system last night. pulled the plugs they are black. how the hell do i adjust this thing to get it to not run so rich? i knew my mileage wasn't as good as it should be. and also do i need to replace the plugs now? or is there a way to clean them up. im probably needingto replace the 02 sensor huh?

o2 sensor may help. What mods do you have?

Is it stock?

remove the bolt ons and you won't be rich or get it tuned which may include chipping your ecu if you haven't.

Also, might want to replace the O2 sensor in either case if it is an old O2 senor.

im having the same problem also. everytime i hit high RPM's it sprays out smoke, not just a puff of it, but a cloud that doesnt stop until i shift or slow down. I changed my spark plugs about 2 months ago. Hope someone puts in some good info about htis.

Wow, you honestly think bolt ons make you run rich?

Last time I checked no one needed a tune after bolt ons.

Just reset your ecu if anything. Usually the ecu adjusts on it's own.

You aren't getting more air or more fuel with bolt ons, just less restriction.

You will suck in more air with less restriction causing the ecu to send more fuel = rich

also look at your tail pipe. Is it black? = rich
If nothing is visible wipe it with your hand or a white cloth.

I know this car is not built but giving wrong information bothers me..........so,

You are telling me that tuning after putting on an intake or header is not needed? Ok, then I think you don't know much about tuning or how car performance is best achieved(I know I don't know much but I do know a wee bit).

To get the best performance meaning hp/tq and gas mileage your car should be tuned. Your stock ecu is for your stock car. Through some bolt-ons on and you car is not stock............yes you ecu will adjust SOME very little but not enough. There is more power to be had, air/fuel ratio and better gas mileage to be achieved with tuning.

This may NOT be the problem with the car but just a point that need to be made.

It's not NEARLY enough difference that his ecu needs to be chipped and re-mapped.

The ecu can handle the difference a few bolt on's makes.

correct

to the OP just change your air filter, plugs, fuel filter, 02 sensor. do a whole tune up.

I agree that spending money on tuning a stock car with intake and header is not practical(with more internal modification it is a must).

However, I think bolt ons will make you run rich and may drop your mpg a little

Hell, this person hasn't even given more details! That **** drives me crazy!

OP:
How much mpg did you lose?

What bolt-ons?

Is this a LS integra or a LS swap in another shell?

Is your ECU stock or not?

And what 4drgsr96 said and for ***** and giggles check your oil and coolant levels. Change them recently?

Have you been keeping up on maintenace? if not ,get on it.

Oh, are you driving it like a jackass?

<--- likes to drive like a jackass and still gets 26-28mpg with my gsr swap.
