Picked up this B16A w/Tranny for Free a while back. Had been too lazy to take it apart to see what was wrong with it. (Was told something fell into a cylinder and blew a piston) So this morning I woke up with the will to rip it apart and finally see what was wrong with it.
This was my first time taking apart a DOHC I4 motor. Quite the learning experience, but it was very simple indeed.
Here it is, no engine stand, nothing to work with. And it was real hot this morning.

At first I was like "wow this engine is pretty damn clean"

Finally got the head off. Obviously a Valve fell into cylinder.... 2?

Damn the head looked nice though

replace the pistons and re-bore (maybe) the cylinder walls if necessary. get the head machined and milled, and replace the valves. you should be golden
think about it, if you spend 1000-1500$ to make this thing fly again, you still come out way ahead. now is the perfect time to get all the internals upgraded to forged stuff, gl

Its a JDM B16A first gen. Not exactly a masterpiece to work with. I suggest you sale the cam and complete head. Think about it. JDM B16A complete swap goes for around 1800. I'm sellin my JDM B16A first get COMPLETE for 1300. You think its worth reparing?
EDIT: Keep the tranny for another motor =D

I'm going to assume you didn't see the picture of the cumbustion chamber of cylinder number 2... The head needs some work before he could sell it.

The Tranny's cable.
I've been offered 500$ for it so it might be outta my hands real soon. Zero grinds, zero slippage, it works flawless.

of coarse, he said he got it for free. a first gen is going for about $1300, that's with no mods.

but if he spends ^^ then he has a stronger engine. IMO rebuild it, can't go wrong.

Well if I can get some money for it. Then I'm gonna sell it. Because I have zero money right now for a rebuild, so anything I got for it would be good. The thought of building it up is so nice though... uhgg.

Could the head still be repaired??? Even with all that damage?
