HELP!!! How bad is my ECU fried!!??!!
hey guys.... my car is a 94 civic hatch dx... with a d16z6 swap in it. What I currently had in there was a p28 with a vafc1 hooked up to it. My car was broken into and they unplugged my ecu and ripped the vafc1 off the harness. I rewired everything back and had my brother send me an ecu that he bought off a guy from florida and im located in oklahoma. When i plugged the ecu in and i started my car up.... i smelled burning from my car.. after searching for it... it was coming from the ecu that i just plugged in. I opened up the ecu and there's a burnt mark on it.... we'll i guess the pix will best explain itself... but can anyone that have knowledge in ECU please tell me what is burnt, can it be fixed, or is it still usable.
Also i checked for trouble codes and its throwing out a 40.... I have no idea what a 40 is???? If anyone knows what a 40 is let me know.... but as of right now the car can still run with that ecu
thanks
Top View of ECU notice the burnt mark towards the front of the ecu

Closer shot to the burnt mark

something that cracked
(anyone know what that is)

rear view of how it is burnt

closer rear view of how it is burnt

i dont think this pix matters but its just the rear cover

The case is isolated so it doesn't matter.
There is either a short in the wiring for the EVAP purge solenoid, or the IAT sensor plug and the EVAP purge solenoid plugs are swapped.

**edit**
you swapped the IAT and charcoal canister purge valve plugs
this blows up Q31 (as you did)
your IAT may be blown.
the ECU should be fine but the purge valve control will be gone. No CEL, the purgr valve is an emissions device. It runs fuel tank vapors into the intake manifold when you're cruising.
More than likely you messsed something up when you rewired things or it was always popped like this and you did something else to let out some smoke...
CEL 40 or CEL 4????
