Faulty Crankshaft Postition Sensor
The check engine light came on as i started up the car this morning, i tried restarting the car to see if it would go away. it stayed on, so i pulled off to see if i could feel something different about the car. much to my dismay, the car felt like it was tied down, the tacho needle was sluggish from the 2nd gear onwards and at the lights, the car stalled... so after about 5mins of driving i pulled over and turned the car off and waited a min or two and started it again and amazingly the check engine light was gone!! the car felt back to normal after that and hadnt stalled either. so wehn i got home i checked the ecu for error and it gave me 4 short flashes, and according to the manual it was the the ckp sensor. Just to see if the problem remained i waited a few hours for the car to cool and tried starting it again, and there it was again, the check engine light was on, and when driving, the car had the same sluggishness but didnt stall. after waiting for the car to warm, i restarted and it was gone, it was a repeat of the scenario in the morning but without the stalling issue..
Has this happened to anyone else? if so, how much did it cost to fix it? and where on the engine is the crankshaft position sensor?
ps. i drive a 92 prelude si, ive recently replaced the dizzy and my starter motor is wearing away. the car is sitting on about 140k with a new timing belt
Thanks for your help guys!!
