I noticed my rpms were too high (1000-1500) about 3 months ago. I got it checked out with my mechanic and he said my gauges were off because the engine was idling normally (700-900). So I thought screw it, and rode it for like 2 months no problems. Then about a month ago my car stalled out at a light and it took me like 8 tries to get it stared and when it did it sounded crappy. I gave it a lot of gas in neutral and the exhaust popped really loud and it started running normally and the idle on the gauges dropped to normal (700-900). It has been driving great since. Just now I redlined and the gauges are funny again. It says it's idleing at 1200-1500 but i can tell from the sound of the engine that it's at normal idle. My rev limit is set at 8600 rpm's but now that the gauges are off it goes to 9000 rpm's and thats when the shift light comes on too. Does anyone know why it's doing this? Any thoughts are much apriciated.
