Default what should i do ls or d-series

well im kind of debating on wat to do im on a budget and cant think of wat to do....im either thinking of do a turbo d becuase i can get a turbo for a d-series realy realy cheap from my friend or should i just get a ls and put it in cuz i can get one cheap at the junkyard cuz they have millions of them but i would also have to by motor mounts and shift linkage so that will cost extra money...i kinda want the one that will have more power im kinda leaning towards the turbo d-series but just wwanted some opinions on wat i should do......oh yea im just gonna be using my car for a daily and for the races on the weekends

I would go with ls then turbo it later on...later on it will be way more powerful then the d series could be

D series parts are cheap as **** though. I'd turbo the D. That way wen u blow it up it'll be nothing to rebuild it.

200-220 is about the limit on a stock D before th ringlands snap, I don't know I personally would do the LS swap since it will be more reliable for DD than a turbo car, also in the end you can push a stock LS turbo to 300+ hp

I had a turbo a6 and I swapped to a LS and am boosting it shortly, I say skip the D and go to B

Someone save a D. I'm sticking with a d for now, since i am a college student and money is pretty hard to come by. Plus, like the other guy said, it is cheaper. But... there is a but, i am planning on getting a b16 or b18 and supercharging it so it can be a fun track car in the future. Also, if you mess up something on the D, it won't be as much.

its a simple money issue

d series cheap
b series better

the pros and cons are well written on each motor but i would say in your shoes just go d series and after some time and maybe some engines you can allways go to a b series but if you are learning and starting you might aswell blow up a cheap engine or two ...

IF he decision is between Boosted D or a B swap then it is going to cost about the same...for a daily drive N/A is better than Boot, well more reliable

Not true. Around here, you can get them all day long at the local pick-and-pull. The cost? Nothing more than a D-series motor from the pick-and-pull. A motor (or any other given part) costs the same, regardless of what it come out of. So if you blow up an LS, it's not like replacing oneis going to set you back more than replacing a D-series (especially a D16Z6, which is actually harder to come by around here and likely more expensive). True, you have to buy a mount kit. But you can get these downright cheap these days. So why settle for a D if you really don't have to?

Thats exactly how it is around hee i can get any 4 banger for about $100 and trannies are $60....and There at atleast 2-3 there every month

I've done both D series turbo and a now a B swap and to do either correctly and finding good deals, they will cost the same in the end the B is a better upgrade...but the OP has made up his mind for a boosted car which is cool but not for a DD

The one thing I truly love about HT. Maybe 3% of the people here actually understand the potential of a D-Series motor.

Then you shouldn't play cars

Get a job get all your bills etc settled start some investments then play cars.

Do you really think it would be honestly cheaper to fix a broken stock LS comparing that to a boosted D?
