Default budget boost, should i turbo my d or go ls turbo

I am on a budget i was going to turbo my d16 and had everything planned out and was going to go with a custom setup, i then looked into the figures and realized i might not be satisfies with it,

i want to have an autocrossing car but with the occasional 1/4 of 13-14's

so i am wondering if i should turbo the d16z6 and then ride it until it blows and then go ls turbo with the same kit i have on the d

or should i just get the ls now and save up for a couple of months and turbo that????????????

my opinion:

200-230whp range... stay d16
230-330whp range... go ls

dude your better off getting the ls motor and turbocharging that, it's more worth it, you dont want to limit yourself with a d-series motor, think about all the available and cheap parts for the ls motor and the turbo parts for it as well, plus the numbers of horsepower and torque can reach beyond what a d-series motor can. money is always plus, but think of things in the long run

well... if its an ls + turbo OR a d + forged internals and maybe sleeves + turbo, i'd go D all day long

He did say budget. I say get an LS motor/b16 trans (You said autocrossing/drag) And get a small turbo like a 16g, that way it will spool up quickly and still provide the needed power.

id go for the B. little more torque. and when the funds allow, build it up.

im a turbo D guy but, if your looking for 250whp+ go for the ls, cause unless internals are not built on the D it wont handle anything over 250whp for too long,there was a guy running 300whp with 2 headgaskets,really low comp but still dint last too long.
BTW:i myself am turboD and im also gonna go the autocross route,but i already reached what i think its already a safe hp level on my turboD,good but not enough unless i built it up to handle more boost, so im going the LS turbo route with the b16 tranny def proven to be very effective in autocross and also good 1/4 mile setup.

I would stick with the d series....I have turboed quite a few of them...I use propane injection on them and no fuel managment what-so-ever

I have 3 kids running 10-12psi on large 16g's no probs

propane is 118 octane and -47 degrees...I use a hobbs switch to engage the propane so they dont have to worry...tune a nice 13:1 air fuel ratio becasue when usuing propane you are safe out to 15:1

the d16 has such a smooth power band...I love it...not like my shitty *** mr2 that goes from 140hp-450hp in 600rpms

anyways stay with d series till u break something...just start building the ls now

i had the turbo d. it was nice- got stolen b4 i could really up the boost. now im going lsturbo w/gsr tranny. lookin for at least 250whp on stock internals all day long. its just a little bit outside the safe d16 range
