Default my car chokes when i accelerate sometimes!! help!

ok when i accelerate or when i'm crusing... my car chokes like it's running out of gas or something.. but i have a full tank. could it be my fuel pump?

i have I/H/E and stock ignition.

my fuel filter is only 5,000 miles old. could it be the fuel sending unit??

btw i have a 94 accord ex with 90,000 miles

thanks!

Ignition. Check timing, cap, rotor, distributor, etc.

Edit: looks like you're also due for a new timing belt if you haven't done that yet.

Also check spark plugs as well. My civic did this once when a spark plug wire had become disconnected from the spark plug. A cylinder not firing correctly will cause this.

When the spark plug wire (damn aftermarket crap) became disconnected the car didnt backfire but after driving like this for about 3 miles the check engine light came on and I quickly pulled into the nearest parking lot and found the problem. After the spark plug was reconected I did hear thudding noises from my car for a while but no back firing.
back fire???

i did the timing belt 5k miles ago. my car was normal last week and it just happened this week. i'll check the ignition setup...

and yes my spark plugs are in the correct order. ...

the other day i was on the gas pedal and my gas guage went all the way empty. (please note my gas guage is already broken it only goes half way when i fill up full) then it went back to the half way point and i could move again...so what seems to be the problem if it's not the ignition? fuel pump???

Hey, this was just happening to me around 2500 RPM's. I disconnected the hose coming off the EGR valve and plugged it with a golf tee. It stopped when it was plugged. So it's time for a new EGR valve. Hope this helps
