H4.
It is where the most competiton is. It showcases driver skill instead of hp!
But seriously, H4 is much cheaper, and is the most competitve class in my area as of right now!

H1 for three reasons:
1. I already had a B-series in the car and it would have cost MORE for me to switch back to a D-series than to just run H1.
2. H1 allows more freedom in the rules and more room for legal creativity in car design and building.
3. The current rules do not allow me to run an engine swap (no matter that the engine is a 100% stock, non-VTEC...) in any Honda Challenge class below H1.
Thawley -- underpowered but overjoyed

H4 because we can run our SCCA legal ITA car in it and still win, if we built an H1 car we could only run it in SCCA ITE and that class makes no sense because you would be running against anything just about. H4 is also a more level playing field, you can only do so much to the car unlike H1.

I race in H5, for a couple of reasons:
I already had the car.
I already had a lot of spare parts (I daily drive one of two of the same model of car.)
The H5 guys and gal seem to be the most "grass roots" of all the Honda Challenge folks, to me.

H2, because I had a track only prelude that only needed a few safety upgrades to be legal in HC. If I was starting without a car at all, I would prob. go with H4. My car can also be ITS legal with some slight work. I'm staying in H2 because I want to keep my options open for ITS, and I don't want to spend more $$ building the car to H1 spec. Plus I'm hoping more H2 cars get built soon

H1, because with minimal mods, you can run it in World Challenge
Seriously, the added speed add more challenges. I like going faster and faster, not just the competition. Keep the challenges coming.

H4 because you don't have to mortgage your house to complete a full season to be competitive (unless you're sponsored somehow and the money isn't an issue). In addition, H4 fields are larger with many good drivers. And, the probability that your car will stay together for the weekend (and season) is far better than in H1. Save your money and drive in the class where you'll have the most fun - that class is H4.

Jeremy, I know your comment is made in jest, but I strongly disagree in this.
HP only matter if you are racing outside of class. In the same class, it doesn't really take into account. It just shifting the whole competition into another level. And everything is faster.
With your comment, seem like a spec pinto is the way to go.
Just for example, everyone said in SpecMiata momentum is important. IMHO, Momentum is important in any racing.
For instance, in Spec Porsche Cup. Big HP, but everyone has the same power. So, if someone loose a momentum, it will have the same affect as if you are driving a spec miata in a miata race.

Actually, the real difference lies in the pool of drivers with the necessary resources to compete at each level. There is much larger pool of drivers capable of affording H4 than H1 and far more in H1 than in any form of Porsche racing, except spec. 944. So, if the talent pool is the same regardless of wealth, then H4 will benefit with more front running drivers than H1. This simple argument is the reason I believe that H4 is the way to go for most drivers.

If I wanted to develope a set of remote resivoir shocks maybe H1 is the way to go. Wait, I could also get to race against Andrie also.

Johnny Mac,
I'm not disagreeing with you. Although I think in any level or racing the top drivers are there for a reason. And in most cases, they will continue to be top racers no matter what class they go to.
I'm just disagreeing with Jeremy's comment on HP.

BTW, saw you sold your DC2, but looking for another DC2?

Andrie,
We have already had this discussion.
High HP cars "like H1" are not momentum cars. Simply reason is the number of "braking or lifting" zones. You have far more braking and lifting zones in an H1 car than you do in an H4 car. If you make a mistake coming out of Magic mountain running in a H4 car going CCW, you carry that mistake with you all the way till you enter the bus stop.
If you make the same mistake in the H1 car, it will only cost you until the entry to Talladega because you have to slow down for that corner.
That is the reason you can make more mistakes in an H1 car and it does not cost you as much as the H4 car. It is a shorter gap of track to loose time on!
I was actually referring to what Edo said.
In H1, you have more to worry about when it comes to getting beat by someone with a bigger motor budget than you do in H4. That is not to say that it wont become a problem in H4, but it's not right now!
I meant no disrespect to the H1 class. If I could afford it, I would probably be woopin your but in that class!
Maybe one day we will get the chance to play in equal cars!

Yes, I am actively looking for a 1994 or 5 Integra RS (yes sunroof delete option) street car. I have a couple in mind here in the Los Angeles area, but as of now I have yet to buy one. Looking for a white body with a B18b1 and no multielement Pep Boys wings, no JDM suspension yo, and especially no ugly body kits (it's amazing what some people will do to their cars
). I have taken a look at three so far and am looking at a couple of others this week.

That is exaclty my argument. Momentum cars is all relatives. The Porsche Cup car guys will think H1 cars is mometum cars. As well as Spec Pinto guys probably don't think H4 cars are momentum cars.
It is all about function of time, buddy.

Johnny,
I just picked up a 1994 Integra RS 4 door. From original owner with only 140K miles and all in original condition. Well, except, it has new battery, new brake MC, new radiator. All that for only $2K. The only downside it is green color!
You should look for cars up here in NorCal. I'll be happy to inspect it for you.
