Turbo Help- Which one should i use?
Ok i have a 99 B18C1 with a 99 LS tranny im putting into a 97 Civic DX..... The Motor is fully build with Golden Eagle sleeves bored to 84mm. (same as 2.0) I thought i had my turbo picked out, but after hearing some things from other people i needed a second oppinion. The origional plan was to use Garrett's GT3582R, but a couple people told me that i would never be able to spool it, and that i would have major problems with turbo lag.... Is it a bad idea to use this turbo or will i be ok? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks!
How much power you looking to make? Is this mostly street driven or a dag car? A gt30r will give you nice spool for the street and about 550whp. The gt35r will give you about 650whp, but obviously you will have more lag.
As of right now the head is stock, so i am looking for about 400-450 untill i get the head worked on.... After that i will want more, but I guess what im lookin for is i dont really care what the dyno sheets say, i am looking for 1/4 times, not dyno numbers.... so i am afraid im gonna have so much lag it will affect my et.

Just looking for "1/4 mile" times is not going to help you in the least with your selection. You must be a bit more specific in terms of the power and goals that you're trying to acheive. Suspension, chassis, tires, and traction are all big issues that have to be addressed as well as the turbo. Don't rely on what someone's brother's-nephew's-roomate made with "X" turbocharger. That person's driving experience and other supplemental parts work in conjunction with one another. Unfortunately, I don't believe you'll have too many additional responses to this VERY BROAD statement of "1/4 mile" based turbo selection.
Drive a few cars, see a few more setups. Learn a bit more, and ask some of the sponsors, shops and turbo experts here about WHAT you want to acheive. Then you'll get a bit more assistance.
Good luck.
