90 crx si : rpm tach not working right???

Default 90 crx si : rpm tach not working right???

i have a 90 crx si and friday my factory rpm tach started acting weird. i doesnt work at idle and it moves really fast when accelerating....but it doesnt work until atleast 3000 plus rpms.

any suggestions?

Check the wiring for the tach at the dizzy. It could of failed. Also, replace the cluster with a known working one, another easy way to figuring out if it's your cluster or your wiring/dizzy that's messing up. Changing a cluster takes no more then 20-30 minutes.

also check the speedo cable that connects to the back of the cluster and where it inserts into the tranny.

Ive had my speedo cable break inside the tranny and it would catch everyonce in a while and jump around.

RPM tach and speedo are 2 different things.

Open up the dizzy and make sure all the wires on the ignitor are tight, I had one loose ona new dizzy and slowly worked its way looser and started acting up...alt may be responsible but i believe you would have other symptoms with electronics...

My money is one loose wire or ignitor going bad

on me. i dont know why I was thinking the speedo. weird
