Older gen CRX (87/88) motor swap [CARBURATED to B18C1]
I just picked up an early gen of the CRX family. And I'm kinda scepticle on where to search for a B18C1 ( 99 GSR v-tech ) motor. The only one that I have found is going to cost me about $5,400, streight from Japan. I found it on http://www.ardperformance.com. Does anybody know of a good place to get on from that wont kill me on price?
Get a second gen CRX. Way easyer with any swap. 1st gen is seriously going to cost like 10,000 to do it right. Everything needs custom work and wiring like no tommorow. Get a broken down 2nd gen for about 500 US and swap in the engine. I think someone on this board has a 89 CRX Si with no engine in it for like 400 US.
Good luck
Good luck
Try http://www.hondamotorsonline.com They sell JDM gsr swaps for $3,300 and JDM type-R swaps for $4,800. They have a great reputation, and I don't think you will find legit swaps cheeper.

I don't agree on the $10k as the motor can be had from lots of places for less, although it is a hassle getting all of the axle and linkage probs solved - see the http://www.hasport.com site which does a good job plus I thin it is the nov 2001 sport compact car mag.........also not everybody will have your type of car...
ps, check out the http://www.portflow.com site and a bunch of others for links...i gott a b16a jspec from jspec link on hasport and was very happy for not a lot of $$$
Putting the engine is no problem.
The tough part is converting your car from a carburated set up to a fuel injected system. Starting from the fuel pump, which is a low pressure pump not suitable for fuel injection. You will need new high press fuel lines, then rewire the car to work with MPFI.
Get a fuel injected model.

dont listen to them!!

its not that hard.. you just need a donor car, and lots of patience
the wiring harness bolts up, dude. get the fuel lines off of an 87 CRX Si, and get the pump off of the donor. ZC axles.
when you finish rewiring her, your done! you cant really mess up.. plus, while your at it, you can modify your dash to get the speedo and tach outta the donor, or take the whole dash! just plan to have a ride for a while.
its not as easy as all these newer guys have it, but we're cooler than them anyways
btw.. you most likely have rust, right? if its just cosmetic, leave it : i wish i did. can you say sa sa sa sleeeper?
hehe
