Looking for some new subs and have questions
I got my car a couple months ago and it had a system in it. It has a kenwood in dash receiver, a MTX Thunder 302 amp, and 2- 12' Pioneer subs. I dont know how many ohm's the subs are or the volume of the box. Ive read about the JL "W" series and people dont have any bad reviews about them.My one friend had eclipse subs and Im wonder if I should stay away from them or look for a pair. Im looking for a reasonable price sub in 12' ,I am open to all responses. If you respond with something please give some more detail then just naming a sub, I need help in this area. Im more of Loudness th clairty but im not going to be entering in any SPL contests just to terrorize poeple who ride with me.
??Does anybody have a formula or something to figure out the volume of my box?? I can get the dimensions.
MTX Thunder 302
Dynamic Power
120 Watts x 2 at 4 Ohm
212 Watts x 2 at 2 Ohm
425 Watts bridged into a 4 Ohm
RMS Power
75 watts x 2 at 4 ohm
150 x 2 at 2 ohm
300 x 1 at 4 ohm
Thanks for the help!

If you want a loud sub I say look at Kicker subs. If you want a loud and accurate sub that is going to last then look at JL. The new JL w series should be out already so look for 1- 12" or 15" W3. They dont require alot of airspace to get great performance. This wolud mean that you can have some room in your trunk since it doesnt seem like you have any right now.
I dont really car about trunkspace, I have a backseat. Im looking at a pair of JL audio 12w3v2. Does anybody have these? and wanna tell me about them?
The pioneer TS-W305F subs have an 800 watt max and a 300 watt nom.

My buddy has 2-10"w3v2's. They sound great. He has them wired to the 5ch. JL amp that is running his entire system. They are accurate, loud and have a nice deep tone.

That makes no sense at all. If they have a deep tone, that means that you are hearing their resonance (at some low frequency). Therefore, they are not accurate.
They can be accurate and play really low, but not what you said.

First I'll bet if you get a box built to the subs specs or close you will be impressed. The box you have is a swappmeet and is no were near to specs for your subs. Your box has horn tweeters built in to it,
I bet someone took the subs that were in it and swapped them for the ones you have now. If you are hard on cash I would go that route. It would sound alot better then you have now.
