***Retarted screws in my brake rotors!!***
anyone got any tips for getting these bastard screws out of my front brake rotors??? tried usin a normal screwdriver and they wouldnt budge even with some penetrating spray.....
Just drill them out...I just drilled off the head and left the rest there but you can pull it out with a vise grip, you don't need those screws
well im not sure what its called but you can get it at advance auto parts. its like an impact driver thing, you hit the back of it with a hammer and there is like a built in screw driver on it.. it works amazing... sorry i cant help any more.
well, im gonna get one of those impact drivers and beat the bloody **** out of it till the damned things come out...i gotta re-do my whole brake system, and the rotors gotta go...im finally getting the car running again and i think it would be handy to be able to STOP, lol

You can buy a cheap one for about $5 from Harbor Freight...works like a charm. You'll need it again when it comes time to remove the front bumper.

if you can't get an impact screwdriver just hold your screwdriver in there nice and tight and hold decent pressure in the direction you want to turn the screw and keep hitting the end of the screwdriver with a hammer until it cracks loose, worked everytime for me except for the time i actually broke the end of the screw out from bangin on it before it even cracked loose. if not yeah just drill them, the only point of them is so you still have 100% brake functiion if a wheel happens to fall off.
i just did this last weekend
.....if you dont care about the rotor just drill a hole on the outside edge of the screw so it is a half circle hole on the rotor and half on the screw....then take a chisel, screwdriver whatever and hammer it in the direction you would normally turn the screw to loosen it and it should knock it loose
like this.....drill where the red circle is the place the head of the chisel in the hole in the screw:

if youre going to hammer a screwdriver wear some damn safety glasses.
obviously impact driver is the best option, and its a good tool to have in your case, it will get its use.
