Well one of my friends just picked up a 88 CRX HF and hes going to make it into a street car, drager so its going to be driven on the street basically. We gutted the F--- out of it adn we got it down to 1680 LBS. That is with the drivers seat in.
How much does your rex weigh?

 

Damn. Besides the obvious, what did you end up taking out of it. I hope to get my CRX on the scales soon, but it won't be that light by far. Class rules say I have to keep all glass except for the driver window, and I can't remove the heater core or any sheet metal except for the sunroof. I'd be interested to see where your weight came from (although we're comparing apples to oranges with my 88 Si).

 

what class you going to be in??? We got everyhting removed. Dash, heater core, all glass in in and hatch is still their.

well, my crx, which has interior, stereo and ls/vtec is 2055 with me and my etoolbox in it. (i left those in there b/c that is how the car is alwys driven.)

 

1800 with full panel interior and 2 front seats. Beat that.

I don't think our CR is going to be in any classes It is mostley going to be a fast street car. Cause the guy who owns it likes to street race. ................NO negative coments aboiut street racing please

1800 stock wut with rear seats and full tank of gas back in 1988 wut and with no ps or rear seats we are talkin like 1730 or so and a half tank of gas evena quater **** marty i think i got u beat

 

if you want to drop more weight... dont forget 1800 is also with a sound system in my car

 

i take a crap before i race and i swear to you i can drop a good 10lbs.!

on a more serious note. I was contemplating gutting out my rex, its gona become my 2nd car so i figured what he hell right. well after drivin around with a crapy sound system i decided to do something about it so i slapped together a cheap 100 dollar speaker and amp combo that is well worth the cash. After all the work i was thinking, do i really want to gut out the car, i would pretty much just be doing the rear cargo area, i mean will this really mean the diff between a victory and a loss? I duno unless someones car is within the same hp or torque of my car its not really likely, i dont do this competitively so i really dont race to the point where im trying to ditch my cigarette lighter to beat christian rado. I duno what diff. have you guys felt anymajor differences?

 

the only reason i left all my inner paneling in was because that **** didnt make a difference if it was in or not... what did make a difference was all the tar and soundproof material hidden underneath the carpet and also the spare tire (removed the tar with some nnnnaaaawwwwzzzz). nevermind all that BS behind the dashboard (heatercore, vent lines etc.)

 

hhahahahahahah yeh if i had a si i would have the fun of all that but i have like 5 lbs of it in the whole car
