Default Alarm Pagers?

Anyone with good experiences using alarm pagers? Is it worth the dough?

I have one. When I first got it I used it all the time. Now it just sits in my bedroom. I guess I should use it more...

some of them cost quite a lot, about half the price of an alarm. if a thief disables the alarm (i.e. cut the wires to the blow horn), does that disable the pager completely?

in other words, can the pager stay active if the main system in the alarm is still active? i would imagine that it would. when my car was vandaled a couple of months ago, the thieves simply cut the wires to the horn... it's so easy to do!! This car accessory manager is trying to convince me that a pager could make a big difference... he's also trying to sell me all this back up battery and things which i don't think i need. No one really responds to alarms anyway, but if i could get to my car when the alarm goes off, my baby might stand a chance.

The DEI piece is too bulky and looks like the design is from 1987, the Alpine SEC8205 has been discontinued and most the other ones I've seen look like crap and never work right.

Someone SHOULD make a nice compact one maybe with a 1"x2" footprint and a low profile housing that can stick to the back of your cell phone.

Usually, the pagers are usually hooked up to the siren output of the alarm brain. If you have a PROPERLY installed security system, the theif should not be able to get to the siren or the alarm brain without alot of effort. Even then, you should ALWAYS have more than one siren.
