Default e55 retrofit Help- Can't get bulb to stay in socket

I'm having a problem with keeping the bulb inside the projector. I've spent hours trying to fix it so that the little metal spring "V" piece would secure the bulb in place. The bulb still wobbles around after i attach the metal piece and is easily removed. I cant figure out what I'm doing wrong. Is the metal piece suppose to latch anywhere else other than the grooves on the back of the projector?

try bending them a little so there is more tension on the bulb

Gave that a try too, doesnt seem to be working for me. The bulb is still able to wiggle out.

is it possible the bulb is upside douwn? There seems to be two tabs on the bulb that could possibly need to catch in the bends of the clip.

i dont think the bulb is upside down because the bulb has grooves that meet the projector so that it lines up right. It just seems that the V clip doesnt hold it tight enough for the bulb not to move. It's loose enough that if i drove the car, the beam would shake up and down or even possibly have the bulb come out of the socket.

isn't there supposed to be a circular metal spring that goes in between the bulb and the socket for tension? does the other side work fine? do they both look the same (parts wise)?

Yea I know, I appreciate it. Theres no spring in between the bulb and the socket. The bulb has little grooves that go into the socket. It doesnt twist in, it just sits in the socket. The V spring clip is suppose to keep the bulb in place. Both sides work the same way. I've been switching clips and bulbs between both headlights. Can't seem to get either one to stay secure. I think that the V clip is suppose to provide the tension on the bulb.

nvm figured it out. I kept bending the v clip until it fit the bulb in snug and then reinforced it with some zip ties. Thanks HT. O BTW. What a difference HID makes... Its day and night.

FTL. Not on an HID projector, ghetto fixes are just that, ghetto. It needs to be done right.

You're not just sticking those wire retainer clips in there are you? The wire clip is supposed to be attached to the bulb holder like a hinge, and it's supposed to swing down and go into those slots, pressing and holding the bulb in place. If you're just taking the clips on and off and holding them in your hand, then it's incorrect.

You can see here where the wire clip sticks out along the bottom, and at the top it's attached in a hinge-like fashion:

The bulb should be rock solid when the clip is swung down over the bulb and locked into place, not moving around at all.
