Default Clutch problem? 4G

After fueling up today the biting point on my clutch was really low. Gear shifts are sometimes hard to do too.

also-

When the clutch is released the car judders and a squeeking can be heard from the gearbox. If I press the clutch in the squeeking and juddering stops.

Checked the master & slave cylinder and they doesn't appear to be leaking
It doesn't seem to have lost any fluid either.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It's not an easy job, but I'd say check the clutch disc and pressure plate...and check the tranny fluid.

Yeap Id start with the tranny fuild. Drain and refill with honda MTF and go from there . Also make sure you have no air in the system bleed the system to be safe.

That's a good starting point. How many miles are on that clutch?

Its done 30k miles on this clutch.

Tried flushing and bleeding the system but no joy.

The release fork has quite a bit of play and doesn't seem to be returning properly. I can push the slave cylinder about 10-15mm back into itself by hand. it only travels out about 10mm when the clutch is pressed.

Also sounds like a throwout bearing if the sound stops when the clutch is pressed. But if you mean by when the clutch is released that you are in neutral meaning the clutch and tranny are completely disengaged and your car still judders it might be a warped flywheel.

Yeah clutch in = no noise.

Clutch released in neutral = vibration and noise.

Looks like a good time to get a lightened fly and new clutch in their too while the gearbox is off.

Take it its a ball ache removing the 'box?

I'll probably get a kit imported from the US coz its a rip off over here in the UK.

I'm on a bit of a tight budget though, any recomendations?

thanks for all the help guys

Perfect for the man on the budget if your looking OEM replacement. If you plan on doing serious motor modifications then you may want to get something stronger. I have heard nothing but good things about Excedy and this is the clutch I have in my car.

Yeah thats looks spot on, thanks mate. I was looking at them but its good to have them recommended too.

I've emailed him to see how much shipping wil be to the UK.

Its been suggested that it could be the main shaft bearing? Is this likely?

I have the same noise as do you. I just had my clutch replaced from a shop and they gave it back to me with a noise as you describe. I just got my car back for the 5th time and the noise still persists, and it is due to the relaese fork vibrating. I am pisseed!!!!!!
