Just wondering if anyone has ever tried this, and if so what they thought.

well the first one would suck if you dive in the rain, and the second one that bend would cost more than a e-bay cold air intake

let me tell you why this wont be as effective as you think it will...notice the heater ducting..its accordian style...this is NOT beneficial to air velocity..for this to be helpful the inside of that ducting would need to be smooth...

Dam, that brought back memories, I remember that what we had to do in the 90's. there was no cold air for the da's and most out there.

lol, on my first car the beastly 1987 ford escort gt...I cut the bottom of the air box out completely. I would recommend just buying an EBay intake if you don't want to spend the money.

I think that the dryer hose will contract lengthwise when under vacuum and collapse.

This is a much better option. I made a similar setup from PVC.

Why would that be bad? AEM makes a pvc cai. Or used to, anyways. Since it's not metal it won't heat up as much, and you don't really have to worry about it melting or anything. I drove a 95 Integra with a PVC cai, decent sound under full throttle.
