Default Help, brake lights stay on after battery replacement.

Hey guys I'm new to the EF world. I just picked up a 90 HF with a dead battery. After I replaced the battery, I start the car and the brake lights come on without me even touching the brake pedal. Even after shutting the car off, both brake lights and 3rd brake light stays on. Any suggestions?

check the switch at the top of the brake pedal, possible stuck, or still being depressed.

in most if not all cars, the car can be completely off w/ ign key out and the brake lights still work.

Yeah. There is a small round plastic piece on the brake pedal that pushes on the switch. I've had this plastic piece fall out before. had the same problem with the lights staying on.

So it seems like that button may be stuck and I would just have to pull it out? What should I do to prevent it from getting stuck again?

There is supposed to be a rubber piece there...
What happens is it rots and crumbles into pieces..

For a temporary fix,I stuck a bolt in the hole or some
tape a coin there..
The dealer should have the part in stock..
