Default HELP! gauges quit!

I started my car this mornging and i noticed my clock wasnt working then i noticed my tach nor any or my warning lights were working along with my heat and fuel level. but when i turned on my brights that warning light came on and my battery light comes on when i first turn on the ignition(like usual) luckily my speedometer still works....but thats only because it is cable driven. I checked all my fuses and none of them are burnt out at all. the last time my clock wouldnt work my radio didnt work either and the fuses were burnt. this isnt the case right now. it is a 88 crx DX pretty much bone stock. thanks

im a little confused, did u say when the car is running if u turn your brights on the battery light comes on?

check the underhood fuses too.

and simply looking at the fuse wont always work, try using a multimeter and do a continuity test between the terminals on the fuse.

what i meant was that the only lights that are showing up on my dash are the brights when i turn them on and the battery light that come on right when you turn on the ignition. thats it. thanks...i will loook under the hood fuses here in a little while onmy lunch break

triple check all the fuses, i can't stress that enough. and like my man said use a multimeter on the continuity setting.

went through all fuses again. it was a turn signal fuse that effected all of that. it was definetlly fried. but then I got in my car and drove it on a little bit of a trip and while i was going about 70mph the car died....now i am stranded 80 miles away from home and using somebody's computer. it is turning over but not starting anymore. the dizzy is making a wierd grinding noise. so i took it apart and there was a lot of black flakes like something had burned. i guess i need a new dizzy now.

anyone got a TD-01U dizzy for sale?

possibly just your ignitor. I'd replace the ignitor, cap and coil if the shaft still spins freely.

when it happened did you have to replace the head or were you lucky. the d series is an interference motor right? i hope im not screwed. also the stinking crank pulley is hard to get off. i just tried a 500 ft lb air gun and no luck. i dont know how i am gonna get that thing off.

Mine did that when the dizzy shaft bearing went bad or sumthing. You need a new dizzy if that's the place, you can't buy just the bearing.

My dizzy's shaft got so overheated that it melted the rotor onto the end of the shaft and I had to use a screwdriver to pry it off.

It baffled me forever, because the rotor was on there just fine and it spun just fine, it was just way off!

take off the black flywheel cover and put a socket on the edge of one of the teeth (back side of motor) and jam it against a part of the tranny or the block. Then take a 1/2" breaker bar and put a pipe on it and it should break loose. Make sure you put some muscle on it. It works for me all da time. Hope this helps.
