something blew up and i dunno what... :(
let me start out by saying about 2-3 weeks ago, my cold air sucked in a gulp of water and my lude locked up on me. then i had a knock. changed oil and the knock was gone, not a trace left. i thought the problem was gone.
lately, ive been having a slight 3rd gear grind, nothing major. yesterday i noticed my car slightly sluggish, wouldnt launch as fast, 2nd and 3rd gears seemed like something was holding them back.
today im crusing along, right when i shift into 3rd, POP CRACK GRIND, oil light comes on. i turn off engine and look in my rear view, sure enough im leavin an oil slick behind me. finally get the car into the slow lane and onto the shoulder, HUGE puddle of oil under my car.
i couldnt get under it today, it was already late, far from home, no tools. but i tried looking for the source of the oil, couldnt tell. the whole front right of the engine bay, down around oil pan area, was soaked in oil. BUT, wierd thing was, engine oil dipstick was more than full. i had just turned off the car and pulled over, 5 mins later i check dipstick and its about twice as high as it should be. i tried starting the car up, just for a second to see if it would. it did, but it was SUPER rough and sputtered till it died 3 seconds later. makes me think a rod went.
possible the oil is from the tranny? i just recently changed oil pan gasket and i took as best a look as i could at my rods/bearings to make sure the knock wasnt there because of a jacked up rod or bearing. from what i could see, they looked fine.
tomorrow or maybe the weekend im going to check for a source of the leak, but im postin this up just to get an idea of what you guys think.

I seriously doubt that's transmission oil. Anyway, after all that, you still thought it would be a good idea to start it. Anyway, I wouldn't be too surprised if you find a rod sticking out of somewhere...

Sounds like a very likely scenario. While your transmission might be simultaneously be bad as well the car stalling has nothing to do with the tranny. If it won't idle in neutral while it's completely disconnected from the tranny, and rev properly you got more serious problems than just a tranny.

oil light comes on....it didn't come on bc you were low on transmission fluid. http://www.hmotorsonline.com
