Default My Wilwood caliper is leaking after install...trying to figure out why...

Ok, so I installed a wilwood big brake kit in my 92' civic hatch. Everything in the install went fairly smooth, except that I had to go out and buy spacers to make my wheel clear the caliper.

Anyways, now that everything is done, brakes are bled, there is a leak coming from the caliper, where the the fitting screws in on the back side. What the hell??

I tightened the fitting a little bit more, but obviously there comes a point where you risk stripping it.

My car is not running when I step on the brake pedal to test this. When it gets stiff after a pump or two, that's when you can see a very slow/small leak from the back side of the caliper.

Any ideas?

There were no copper washers included in the kit, and they don't say a thing about it in the directions.

the fittings are in there tight, and I don't understand why they won't hold pressure

reuse your washer from the old brakes

ive never seen brakes without the washer. now i could be wrong, but i also could be right.

Well, the fitting on the new wilwood caliper isn't a 'banjo' fitting.

you can see a pic of what I'm talking about at:

the pics of the caliper are near the bottom of the page

Did you use teflon on the threads? I had a similar problem when I did my rear disc conversion. After doing a layer of telfon and new washers no problem.

Ok, spoke to one of the tech guys at Wilwood...

You have tighten down the fittings until they're TIGHT...way more than handtight, or at least until you get the leak to stop.

So far they aren't leaking.
