Default coolant drain and refill/flush questions

When the dealership performs a coolant flush on the engine, do they use a flush machine, or do they just drain and fill?

Also, when you drain and refill coolant, is it necessary to drain the coolant from the engine block, or just the radiator?

If a coolant flush machine is used, could someone please explain the process to me?

most of the times dealerships do you a machine. from what i understand it will pressurize the system and circulate various cleaners through the radiatior and engine and eventually pulling all the dirt out. i have heard some bad things though about internal components being damaged by the pressure of the cleaning, but that has been in automatics, cant vouch for manual. hope this helps a little. as far as draining the block when flushing by hand i have always assumed that it drains when the radiator is drained, but dont quote me on that.

no, only what in the hoses and radiator comes out when you drain the radiator, i believe there's a plug on the block to drain the coolant there.

When the dealership does a cooling system flush, do they remove this plug on the back of the block, or do they just remove the radiator drain ****?

Look at a helms

Theres still some fluid in the block. The bolt is on the back, a bit to the left of the oil filter but there are several bolts there so you need a helms or photo. You can also just put some distilled water in there, run the car up to normal temp and the fan comes on, then drain again.
