Help suggesting fasteners for remote mount radar detector?
Hey guys - I bought an Escort Passport SR-7 Remote mount radar detector forever ago for one of my cars and never got around to installing it. I found it when cleaning out the garage recently and decided to finally install it in the R. Problem being, i lost all the fastening hardware that came with it. I'm going to head to the hardware store today to pick up some replacement stuff but need help figuring out what kind to use? I've attached pictures of the unit below, the sensors i'll need hardware to mount will be the front radar and the front laser sensor (pictured on the middle and bottom left in the second picture). Should I get self tapping screws, or nut/bolt combos? Sorry it sounds like a stupid question, but i'd rather be safe than out $1000 bucks because i used the wrong fasteners.
thanks guys

I guess it just depends where everything is going to mount. Id say both of those should mount with out much problem in the front air dam/grill area. Will be slightly out of sight (from both thieves and cops). If you decide to mount anything in there, Id say drill a couple holes, maybe use some kind of metal brackets, and use nuts and bolts. Probably be easier to take off the bumper. Just make sure its secure and hard to see.

That's what i was thinking, i've done some test fitting and it seems to fit in there without a problem. The detector came with metal brackets that will work, glad i didn't lose those!
I'd REALLY like to be able to do it without removing the bumper, but i guess we'll see how it goes.
Thanks for the quick reply

I had a BELL Remote Laser detector on the R before. The front sensor looks the same as yours. No need to remove the bumber. I ended up using zip ties to secure the front sensor behind the grill along the lower front splash shield. I also used a balloon to keep everything from getting wet. After many years, the connector finally broke off. (Why I'm not running it now) The main unit was mounted inside my ashtray which I cut out. You'd never know it was there. My front laser sensor was attached to my rear view mirror.
