obd 1 - better for tuning aspect

u will need:
obd1 dist.
obd1 ecu.
and if its from a 96+civic(most likley)then motor mounts too

im sure with a little more searching u will find answers. dont rush it take ur time and make sure u do it rite

True to that, and if u have a 95 or lower model chassis (it's ODB1) you'll need a ODB II to ODB I conversion harness (add onto that list)

p28 is obd1 so if u have one then u dont need the harness conversion or the obd1 ecu since u have it.

It would be alot easier if you stuck with an obd1 motor since it is going into an obd1 chasis. If you absolutely must go with the y8, I suggesst using your existing harness and converting the motor over to obd1. If you really want a thorough explanation pm me.

so do you think it would be better the use a d15b motor with a stock harness from a 95 civic hatch si. since its obd1 ?

d16z6 is the obd1 form of the y8.(basically) It is SOHC VTEC. It came in the ex coupes and the si hatches.

i have a 95 cx hatch and i put in the OBD2 d16y7 with no problems and im running a p08 ecu with the stock cx wiring harness Hasport mounts and an si tranny. should have no problems may have a CEL for a while since some plugs dont plug into the motor from the harness.
