Default Cleaner for Comptech Icebox filter?

What do I need to use to clean the filter? And where can I get it?

It's called UNI filter cleaner and you can get it from Comptech. I just got another batch for mine, $20. total for 2 big cans of the 1 cleaner and 1 filter oil.

Good luck,

A.

Any chance of finding this at a Pep Boys or Checker auto? I hate to have to roder stuff all the way from Comptech.

No, but, I have heard of some guys here using cleaners like simple green. That could certainly be a possibility.

The Filter oil however is a must get from Comptech. I have not seen it anywhere else but, then again I have never searched anywhere for it. $20. was the total cost including shipping. Not too bad in my books and the cans are bigger than your average sized AquaNet hairspray can.

I'm sure there are others here who have other ideas to help you. I'm just lisiting what I use and whats suggested by Comptech themselves.

Good luck,

A.

Is there any reason you should or should not use K&N filter cleaner and oil?

The K&N is a paper type filter, the Comptech is a Foam type filter. Both will act and react differently to the others cleaner/oil. The foam filter requires different maintenance than the paper and vice versa.

don't know about those places, but you should be able to find the cleaner at any motorcycle shops that deal with dirt bikes. Uni filters have been used on dirt bikes for years.

actually, K&N is a cloth/gauze type of element not paper, but you're right, foam and K&N type filters require different types of cleaners/oils.
