Default NASA Midwest @ Autobahn Country Club Joliet Il July 22-23

Greetings!

The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Midwest region would like to invite you to check out our upcoming events! We are creating more opportunities in the midwest to participate in high performance autosports for all skill levels. We've got something to interest any driver ranging from High Performance Driving Events (HPDE), to time trials (TT) to wheel to wheel Competition Race classes.

NASA HPDE is a fantastic opportunity for drivers of any skill level. Our four run group format provides a chance for drivers of varied experience levels to develop their skills in a carefully regulated environment. This program is designed to help drivers work towards wheel to wheel racing and advancement is possible through instructor sign off.

HPDE 1
This is where new drivers begin. Throughout the event you will have classroom/download sessions designed to accomplish a few different things. This includes letting you know what to expect, giving you an overview of the skills you will be developing, familiarizing you with the track and to give you feedback after track sessions. You will have an instructor with you in the car during all of your track time sessions in this group.

HPDE 2
Once your instructor has determined you are capable of applying what you have learned in HPDE 1 on your own and you feel ready for the next step you will be advanced to HPDE 2. Drivers in this group will typically run on the track the same time as HPDE 1 so instructors will still be able to observe you and provide feedback but they won't be in the car.

HPDE 3
You have progressed to the world of high performance driving. The speeds are faster in this group and passing zones are expanded. There is no longer any scheduled instructor presence however drivers are always encouraged to ask instructors to ride along. HPDE 3 is when drivers are allowed to start carrying passengers.

HPDE 4
This group involves open passing (no passing restricted zones) and is the last stop on the HPDE trek before you progress to Time Trials or wheel to wheel racing. Those drivers in this group that are interested in moving on to racing are encouraged to rent or purchase transponders so they can see how their times stack up. HPDE 4 will typically share the track with the time trials group.

NASA Time Trial is a national competition program, utilizing regional series based on a time trial style format, with rules that establish car classifications to provide a contest of driver skill. NASA TT is designed to bridge the gap between NASA HPDE, and wheel-to-wheel racing. You can learn more about NASA Time Trials here: http://nasa-tt.com/About.

Competition Race classes in the Midwest include (but not limited to!):

-American Stock Car Challenge
-American Iron Racing
-Camaro-Mustang Challenge
-Factory Five Challenge Series
-German Touring Sportscar(GTS) Challenge
-Honda Challenge
-Performance Touring
-Porsche 944 Spec
-Spec Miata
-Spec Neon
-US Touring Car Championship

Upcoming Events:
Our next event is going to be at the Autobahn Country Club just outside of Joliet, Illinois. This practically brand new track opened it's doors to the public May 23, 2004 and had it's first event April 1, 2005. This technical course features excellent run offs and a racing surface in fantastic condition.

Fantastic! I can't wait to go through that myself.

I'm running in HPDE 4 right now. Hoping to be ready to step up to time trials next spring.

You are not necessarily *stuck* in a group if you don't think you belong there. If you feel that your level of development qualifies you for a more advanced group we can definetly talk to the directors of the groups involved to see if they agree you should advance.

I've seen drivers go from HPDE 1 to HPDE 3 in one day. Usually they are experienced and didn't belong in the novice groups in the first place.

Right in our own backyard. We will be there to support what HC racers decide to show up, although I understand it will be minimal.

The more the merrier though!! There's still time to become a member ($40 + free subscription to GRM last I checked), and plenty of room left in registration for Autobahn I bet.

So much more worthwhile just to buy an Autobahn CC membership instead.

I'll be there in one form or another.

I dont need a membership, i know the Autobahn GOD, he drives a really flamboient blue M3. I'm sure you heard of him, he once raced chuck norris in a F1 car with his M3 and lapped him 5 times... His laptimes are in the negatives, he's so fast his transponder caught on fire.

Thats him, GOD himself, he's not only my lover, he's my hero.

When God saw Chuck Norris in his rear-view, God let out a little pee that became Hurricane Katrina.

Chuck Norris didn't bother passing God on the back straight. He just stood still and pulled the next corner to him.

I think the Stig vs Chuck Norris would be a much better matchup

He might be terrified of ducks but the man has named every single blade of grass surrounding the Top Gear test track AND urinates 98 RON petrol for gods sake

What is this trophy you speak of? *checks coffee table* Oh you mean this nice coaster I have?

J/k I will have it with me. Although now we have changed to offering contingencies instead - somewhat more useful but the certificate doesn't look nearly as nice hanging on a wall.

I can probably get my power/weight ratio down towards what you guys are running. We can dice it up a bit anyway as long as you and Wai don't mind someone out of class in your race.
