ok i'm getting ready to pick up a 91 crx si with the d16z6 in it and the only issue with the vehicle is that it doesn't seem to have the pick up that it should previous owner bought it used and found that the adj. fpr was cranked up to 60 and immediately turned it down the car pushes some black smoke on accel only and no rough idle or anything. i'm thinking that the valves are burnt or the valve seals are bad on it any ideas what might be the problem other than that. and also would the valves being burnt have any effect on compression?

how does it do on smog? sounds like low compression probably because of rings

 

not sure on how it does on smog ... i'm starting to think that this may be more of a bad tune than anything... rings are normally a blueish white smoke not black. black is unburnt excess fuel. fpr is running at 42psi right now and i'm thinking that it is still a tad high and the tune is crap .
