Randy Gagan CRX - Love Ya. Won't Forget Ya.
God, I ******* hate Honda Tech. All this bullshit just to put up a post. This is my second or third posting here. I would have put this in Appearance/Cosmetic if I'd been allowed, but I would have had to wait five days since I haven't posted for millenia. Is this ******* high school?
But I'm here to say sayonara to Randy Gagan. I knew the man less than many of you, but more than some. I met Randy at Nisei two years ago and we hit it off. I was looking for feature cars for Honda Tuning and Randy and I got to talking. I liked him immediately. He was wearing a big straw scarecrow hat and a cut-off Led Zeppelin t-shirt. Not too many people in this scene are into Zeppelin - and I am - so I connected with him at once. We talked, one thing led to another, and we featured his car in the magazine. I can't remember which issue, but we did the shoot down in Long Beach, at the port, before Homeland Security got all crazy and started chasing people off.
We kept in touch. I spoke to him a couple of weeks before I got booted from Honda Tuning. Randy told me he was working on an EF build up, wanted to know if we were interested in covering it in the mag. By this time, anything Randy was working on, I was interested in. He told me about how he was buying aircraft grade bolts and washers for his EF project. He wanted to lead the Honda scene into the attention to detail that the VW guys were known for. Randy knew old-school Vee-Dub well and wanted to bring some of that flavor to Honda heads. Randy would lead by example; he didn't need to wave a ******* flag.
There's nothing I can say that most haven't already heard. There were many sides to Randy that I didn't know about. We weren't bros. We didn't hang out. But he was one of the most genuine cats out there, that much I knew. I always enjoyed talking cars with him. I would have liked to have known more about his musical tastes, his thirst for DJing and drums.
But even though I didn't know Randy deeply, I'm saddened to learn about this, today, July 12. It just further illustrates how you can not take this life, your friends, and your family for granted. If youh have child, kiss and tell him or her you love them every day. If you have a wife or girlfriend, do the same. Randy should not have left us so soon. He has much work unfinished. But there are always other plans. For the most part, you're just a passenger.
Randy, I'm saddened that I won't get to talk cars with you anymore. But I know that almost every time I look at a car from now on, I'll always wonder, in the back of my mind, "what would Randy think about this? How would he have done this?"
Thinking about you, man. Planning to come see you and pay my last respects this week. I miss you. A lot of people miss you. Continue to inspire.

I was flipping thru an old Honda Tuning last night and saw a 2 ps spread of his CRX posing hard, made me think about his new project. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Care to post up pics?
I was a huge follower of his build thread. The fact that everythign is powder coated and that everything has 100% brand new hardware was a sign of a GOOD build.

I must have lived under a rock, but I've been doing this for 9 years, and never heard of this guy. Any links to his work, or anything? What happened to him? Any Zepplin fan, CRXer is a friend of mine.
I knew that I saw that car (cover htm)

wow i remember that magazine, my friend at the time had shown me the magazine cuz i was just getting into the scene and he brought it along just to show the pinnacle of excellence in that car, i read about that car so much. Sad to hear about this tragic loss, don't mean to offend anyone or anything but i'm curious as to what was the cause of this tragedy?

He was in the middle of an insane EF9 build up/restoration. They best I've ever seen.

Found it.
He died of a motorcycle crash with his uncle. I'm not 100% sure the whole story, but I know that's what happened.

R.I.P
Can say that I know him personally but I recall his screenname in the past. Might have purchase OEM parts from me once before (remember selling a bunch of new nuts & bolts, etc to someone by that name, few years back!)

On EVERY single road trip/cruise I have EVER gone on, I listen to my Zeppelin collection. I can't drive without it.
