i just want to know what white smoke is from. i have a dx head with a si cam and trying to figure out if that could cause the smoke. it only smokes like in 2nd gear when im on the gas but it smells like feul and not water. tried timing it 3 times and still no answer but also has a bubbling from the exhaust. if anyone could help email at taz1031500@aol.com or reply

 

usaully white smoke is antifreeze and it will smell sweet and is usaully a sign of a blown headgasket . ( it will run rough also )

condensation will come out white , but usaully not just when your on it .

you said it smells like gas usaully gas is black smoke oil is blue .

ok im kinda guessing here but i think there might be a chance your cat is fuked up

 

no cat on it but i just changed the head gasket and smokes like a$$ but does have a little black i just noticed today coming out and some back fire .. does not run real bad just sometimes when its cold it staggers a little bit. i have power and all. i just read on here that if i had a si cam that it would be a half tooth off. but ok

are u sure you used the right head gasket?

 

yeah i think the head might be warped and/or the head bolts might be stretched

 

or maby its just ur using a SI cam in a dx wich would have more lift wich means more air/fuel will come in (ur runnin rich) and that u have NO cat...with NO cat ur car wont try to burn the air comin out and there for it will just come out ur exhaust... i have the same prob with my DOHC ZC i have straight pipin no cat and if i down **** all the way then stop my car will smoke like hell but if i just coast and then brake it doesnt smoke... but if i get on it it smokes...
