My 94 civic ex wont go into park all the way. The car wont move so i know its in park a little but the P on the gauge cluster isnt lite up and the P on the shifter console is not all the way in the right position. Could this be the reason my car wont start? I try to put the shifter in nerutral but it wont start there either. When i turn the key all they way nothing happens although the gauge panel is lite up and the N on the gauge cluster and shifter console is lite Up. Is this a shifter problem or a tranny problem. Much help is appreciated.

 

isnt there like a shift lock where you can insert your key into the shifter area that allows you to remove it from park?

can you put the key there and try to put it back into park?

(sorry, i have very limited auto tranny knowledge)
