Hi all,

Recently installed alpine 9857 deck myself because best buy wanted wayyy to much $ for the install...i have a 00 civic ex...however they said my stock keyless entry and my dome light wouldnt work (wow they were right)...does anybody know which wires i have to connect to get these working again, or is there some special plug i am missing? I got the HU wiring and dash kit from crutchfield...tried searching the electrical system in helms and didn't get too far... i really miss my keyless entry!

 

Hmmm.. I thought that "problem" was eliminated after the '98 models??

But if you removed the radio and the keyless stopped working, then I guess not.

You need to put the factory radio back in the vehicle. You can get the reverse harness at Best Buy (71-1721) to supply power and ground to the radio, and plug in the alarm connector. Then bury that thing in the dash and all should be well again.

Just not sure why you're having this issue with the '00...

The RF section of the alarm/key-less entry was removed from the OEM HU in 99 and was no longer an issue when installing an aftermarket HU.

Let me ask you this slowSOHCvtec how many plugs were on the back, [plugged into] of the OEM HU?

I would be looking for another problem, maybe a blown fuse, or a plug inadvertently got unplugged or not plugged back in properly.

Check the key-less entry module, [it is white and located at the drivers kick panel. 94

That's what I thought... See, I am smart sometimes...

 

Well i just the back of my HU, let me see if i remember all them, obviously the 8 speaker wires, yellow(12Vmem), red(ignition), orange(dimmer), light orangew/white stripe (not sure what this is for), black(ground), blue(power antennae) which i dont even have a power antenna....i have my remote lead for my amp hooked into the power antenna along with the blue/white wire coming from the aftermarket HU...nowhere do i see anything for a keyless entry...im not sure why there are 2 orange wires tho

Actually checked my dome light now works i had simply blown the fuse, but keyless entry is still a nogo! Did those bastards at best buy lie to me about this "problem" of keyless entry and just want me to pay them an extra 20 bucks to hook up the keyless entry so they say?

How do you know they fixed that problem after 99s? Do you have any sort of wiring schematic fcm?

The two orange wires are illumination/dimmer wires, and are what make the lights on the radio dim when you turn your headlights on. I seldom hook those up. Actually, I never hook those up.

And yes, it sounds like those bastards (agree 100%) did in fact lie to you to get the extra $$ out of you... Either that or they were just very misinformed.

And finally, it wasn't a "problem". The radio was simply the home of the keyless entry receiver design for the 96, 97 and 98 Civic EXes.... They changed this in '99. How do we know? From performing installs on hundreds of these cars...

Have you checked the fuse for the keyless system yet?
