What else to buy with Skunk2 Intake Manifold?
If you get a Skunk2 IM for a GSR, do you need to purchase a VAFC for it to work properly? Is the VTEC coming on at 4400 going to be too early? What happens to the IAB sensors? Is the manifold a good choice if you plan to go turbo in the future? Lots of questions but I appreciate it all. Thanks.
If you get it I would purchase a VAFC before hand. Ofcourse if you haven't bought cams yet then I don't know why you would be buying the IM unless you were going FI in which case you would still want a VAFC. Bottom line, get the VAFC first.
Coming on at 4400 too early? That depends on a lot of things, talk to a tuner. Personally I wouldn't think about driving a car without having it tuned first anyway.
The manifold needs to be tapped for the sensor (or you can rig up something).
It's a fine choice for turbo, again, TUNING is key. TUNE TUNE TUNE TUNE TUNE

Tuning is key on any medium to heavily modified car. Whether it is turbo, supercharger, nitrous, or all motor, tuning will allow the car to perform at peak potential with less risk than a car that has no tuning.
are you getting a new TB? while it is good to increase the volume of air into your engine, if you dont pay attention to all the compents of your intake system then you could loose power with increased volume. volume + velocity = power. and you need more fuel too, this is what everyone is saying about the APEXi controller i think. and if you dont have an air/fuel ratio gauge, get one.

i just got skunk2 IM about 2 months ago. YOU WON'T FEEL NOR GET ANY HP GAINS, that is if u don' t upgrade anything else. Along with it i got headers and exhaust, stil my quarte mile time was still the same. I was sort of was expecting it. What i noticed though is that at mid range rpm i lost power but after 6rpm it pull hard.Next step? cam gear, straight pipe (no cat), TB, and fuel adjustment. With cam gears i should be able to tune it right and make my 95HB GSR pull hard all through out the whole rpm range.
saw a deal in some magazine, think it was turbo where they put one of those skunk manifolds on one of the b series vtec motors and actually lost two horsepower, but once they re-tuned the cam gears, there was a 8 or 9 horse gain or something like that. Its been so freggin long since I've read car magazines, now I read the internet.
anything past I/H/E you have to tune to make power
after those u get
VAFC then choose your poisin. I am going NA
getting skunk2 IM, then a new CAI for a type R. Then going to retune
