Default how much am i looking at?

ok, im not one of those kids that come in here and BS about stuff. im for real here. im 17, clean record (police officer was nice enough to reduce my 75 in a 40 to 45 in a 40 ), and i have an RSX type s. now what kind of insurance rates would i be looking at, if we put the title and stuff under my dads name. i have to pay insurance, i took drivers ed and i have the good grades discount. my dad drives a suburban (if that helps). i am just already getting bored of my DC5er only after 2 months lol. (everytime i see an s2k side shot, i drool) so anyway, how much would i be paying a year. (i would also be purchasing something like a turd-cel for the winter)

most of the insurance quote you can get less than 15 minute

progressive.com for example.

there's way too much variable to factor in, just do a online qoute and stop guessing what will it be because we can't tell you for sure.

on a side note, RSX again?

My insurance went up $100 every 6 months when I switched from my RSX-S to a 06 S2k. I used to pay $750 every six months. . now it's only a wapping $850 LOL definatly worth it IMO

I had a 03 Subaru WRX before I got my 06 S2000. My entire policy for a 6 month period only went up $10.

Since you RSX-S is pretty much brand new, if you got an S2000 brand new as well, it should only go up a few bucks like mine. Insurance companies factor in your previous car, and if it was brand spanking new when you got it, and have a clean to good record, you should have nothing to worry about!

I'd guess anywhere from $100-$10,000 per year.

No one can tell you what you will be paying, except your local insurance agents. Insurance premiums depend on your age bracket, past history, credit score, location, etc.

Two issues...

(1) How can you have a clean record if you were issued a speeding ticket? Doesn't a "clean" record mean you have ZERO infractions?

(2) How the hell did you get a cop to reduce your speeding violation by 30MPH? Cops pounce at the chance to bust a minor in an import going 20 over for at least reckless driving. 35 over and he knocks you down to 5 over? Why bother then issuing someone a speeding ticket for going 5mph over the limit?

No way is insurance the same for an RSX Type S and an S2000. My insurance went up almost $100/month when I switched. I'm 18, currently looking for a "daily driver" so I can insure the S as a recreational vehicle. (Still going to drive it as much as I can)

It depends. My insurance went down by $300/yr when I went from my ITR to the S2000.

Thanks bro. It was my dream car since I was 14...I was fortunate enough to get a very good job straight out of high school. No co-signer, that's what I'm most proud of

OT...I was in the same place man. Fell in love April '99 when I was 15. Saved up for more than 6 years to get it, then bought it on my own. It's one of my biggest accomplishments. Big 's to you for doing it in 4 years.

If you put "the title and stuff" under your dad's name, it becomes his car, not yours. Title it for yourself, but put it on your dad's insurance policy as a recreational vehicle where you aren't the sole driver. That'll lower your rates.

It feels really good for people to sneer at you and say "Having fun in daddy's car?" because you know it's not. I just laugh and smile and shake my head at them. Also, I noticed you're in Springfield, VA, are you going to the big HT meet at Sandy Point on Saturday? Or the SCCA AutoX at FedEx Field Sunday? I think I'm the only S2000 going to both, it would be awesome to have at least one more. I'm in Germantown, MD.

I fail to see how this works....

My car title is under my moms name. Why?

If I financed myself, it would have been 7.1% interest, co-sign with mommy = 5.1%.

Who makes car/insurance payments? Me. Whose name is on the title? Mommy.

*shrug* whatever, I guess Im driving mommys car........

If your name is the primary on the title, it's your car. You can still make a case for it being your car if you're the secondary name on the title. But he's 17, and so I'm sure it would be in his father's name only. Therefore, not his car.

You are OBVIOUSLY a kid because:

1. Youre only 17 (Hey, Im only 21 and Im still a kid too)

2. You come on this forum and ask about insurance rates.

Dude, when will people realize how easy it is to just call up a damn agent or hit up a website and ASK? Why Jeebus do people come in here and ask HTers about insurance rates....... Bleh.

PS: I used to be/am part time an insurance agent. It only takes me 3 minutes TOPS to pull up a quote. Stop being lazy.

To the original poster... call your insurance company to find out. There are too many variables, only sure way is to call them!

(1) tickets in PA only go on record if you are 12 MPH over.

(2) He pulled me out of the courthouse before my hearing, told me that he was going to go to the judge and tell him i was only going 45 in a 40. he told the judge that he felt i learned a valuable lesson.

exactly, my mom always offers to put it on her policy since she believes that paying 300+ a month on insurance is absolutely retarded when Its only like 60 bucks under her name. Two of my cars are not even registered to me but they are still my cars and I am on the insurance.

if the financing is in your name the financa company requires that u be the primary on the insurance policy so if u switch the title to his name then it can be on his insurance solely as his rec car, but then u better hope u dont have the kind of dad that will keep the car once its paid off in his name, and try to tell u when to drive it...
