Im looking into gettin a 98 Prelude with 100K miles on it. I was just wondering how many miles you guys have on your H22s? Have any issues with them? I have read up on the "auto tensioner" failing on them. I was plannin on switching over to a H23 manual one when I did the T-belt.

It would be a good idea to replace the t-belt and convert to the manual tensioner if that motor has never had that done before.

 

182K on my chassis but the guy i bought the car from said the engine was rebuilt about 8k miles ago, but i did replace my water pump (seal broke) timing belt was new, and i gotta new auto tensioner cuz the old one was bad and they're ****** expensive , i paid around 120 dollars at the dealership, i'd also suggest what bb_one suggested, good luck with that lude if u buy it

Id suggest changing your auto tensioner, belt ,and water pump NOW before things really get messy.

Defenitly change the T-belt and switch from Auto to Manual Tenisoner....I have about 138k miles on my motor now

130 k on chasis
2k on new built engine

Change the timing belt, water pump, and tensioner like everyone else suggested, and you should be ok.

 

I just rolled 110k like 2 days ago on my SH.

 

I have 133k on my car all original auto . What is the Tenisoner why is it recomended to switch from auto to manual? I keep hearing people doing this but i dont know what the tenisoner is. Thanks and sorry to jack the thread

I know you're asking about h22's but for the record.. i'm running an h23 with 203k Needs a little work but still going! I would only imagine that h22's get similar life if not more
