Default Special Type of Paint for Bodykits??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a bodykit and the sideskirts are molded on to my car. The driver side keeps cracking and has been repainted many times. Is there a special type of paint or clearcoat needed? Someone told me paint that they use on Saturns might help. Any ideas?

Type of paint shouldn't matter as long as prep work was done properly.

thats probably part of the problem. second if the side skirt isnt mounted extremely sturdy it will continue to crack. when driving, wind under the car could cause it to vibrate, or your exhaust or anything really. also how is it attached to the car before it was molded? screwed, glued, double sided tape, any idea?

If you get it painted again and don't want to go through the hassle of getting the body work redone, just ask them to put some plasticizer (sp) in the paint. That should give the paint some ability to move with the kit.

it is prolly goin to crack because the body likes to flex....i have never seen a daily driven car with a molded kit that wasnt cracked or had been cracked...there is really not to much you can do about it when you are trying to bond fiberglass to metal

if its the drivers side maybe its because you open and close that door alot. everytime you shut it it probably jars it loose.

is that possible to remove sideskirts that are glued on? Would it be hard to put it back to stock? the guy who did all my body work originally is not around anymore.
