will cluster from 89 4dr fit into a 89 3dr?
i am thinking it will i picked it up from a friend for 2 reasons.1:it has a tach & 2:my speedo needle is broken,so i have no idea on how much speeding i have been doing latley. Also i heard this is a straight swap, granting that it will work.but will the tach work, there is only 2 places for plugs on the back of the 4dr cluster, and the place for the speedo of course.Thx in advance for the help.
i put it in this morning and everything went fine.it all works and now i have a speedo.no more worring about the cops when they are behind me!
does the cluster have a gauge showing what gear your in(automatic). my friend and i did a auto to 5-spd conver in a 2000 EX and when he gets on it some times the gauge moves like from park to Drive 1 and then to reverse it's kinda messed up.but thanks for the info.
um... i have an 89 4dr civic and i do'nt have that gear stuff your talking about on the gauge... those came with the EGs i think my dx doesn't have it

I'm parting out my 89 civic si hit me back at MRCRX8@AOL.COM if your interested in the cluster.........
As long as you get one out of a 88 or 89 it will fit and work perfectly, the 90-91 is a little different. I have a LS cluster in my '89 hatch, the redline is a little too low for my ZC but I know where it should be anyway, heck, Aftermarket tachs have no redine on them anyway.

Mine isn't a TEG its a Civic LS 4 door cluster, tach has a 6,800 rpm redline but its plug and play and dirt cheap in the wrecking yards. as long as you go 88-89 OR 90-91 you match the year group of your car. You can make the other fit but it needs additional work that I cant explain since I never did it. The LS has a tach and so do almost every other one BUT the DX. the HF has the lowest redline, somewhat under 6,000. But I think even it is Plug and play, they all look identical except for where the redline starts on the tach face.
OK, I stand corrected I am sure that is what I should have said. It was an L something so was probibly the LX. I got it from a local yard in MD near DC for only $25 it was out a a car that had 86,000 showing. Thats a hell of a lot cheaper than everyone is asking for Si clusters and the Redline is the only difference. But it definately cam out of a civic 4 door, not a teg.

do you mean LX?i have never heard of a LS 4 door.but yeah ihave already got the LX cluster working properly in my car.
yes an 88 or 89 cluster would work plug and play in your 89. same as mine. Why pay over $100 for a Si cluster when the tack redline is the only difference. Heck creative use any some paint can change that, me I left it as is.
