Threw a CEL code 3 MAP and car running in Limp Mode and won't stay running...
Hi, I have a swapped LS motor with OBD1 ecu in my 93 hatch. I am running the P75. I am having a problem with my CEL coming on for my MAP sensor (Code 3). I have a chipped ECU and a basemap. When I start my car the car runs very rich with smoke pouring out the back, will not rev past 4k, and doesn't want to idle.
I have to press the gas a bit to get it started and for it to stay running for even a couple of seconds, then it just bogs down and dies. I know my MAP and TPS sensors are hooked up right cause i checked the wires.
Any help appreciated!

iam having the same problem.....but my car will stay fine it idle but when i rev it....it start to backfire......
no, its not set up for 3bar.. I put it back to stock map when we were doing some tests. I do know that the chip was bad cause it was throwing a constant CEL.. When we hooked up the romulator to do some tests, I got the MAP CEL (Code 3). So I am getting a new chip on Wed., but it still doesn't fix it.
I need to figure out how to get rid of the MAP CEL..

Well today my friend let me hook up my ECU in his hatch and his ran, no rev limiter like limp mode, but still had the solid cell!
Can a ECU still run with a solid cell and be faulty at the same time?

You should get a volt meter and check the wires to see if you have a break within the wire. This isn't MAP sensor related, but I once threw a code for a sensor and when I bought a new sensor it still didn't fix it. It ended up being a bad wire and so when I fixed that the CEL went away and hasnt came back since.
dude, the solid CEL was in both cars. I'm thinking its the ecu. I know my plug is bad on my stock map sensor. I have already checked all that out. I did also have it chipped for the 2.5bar map and 550cc injectors. Car is obd1 so I shouldn't need the resistor box right?
I am now beginning to think that it wont stay running cause 1. ECU is fried and 2. 550cc injectors plus no map sensor on (stock ecu =Jumper cut) is flooding out the engine stalling it out.
I think all I need to do is replace the ECU with another chipped on and have the same chip I already have and see if that works. Main reason I think the ECU is bad is cause the solid cell in both cars I have tried it in, but his runs, and mine doesn't. And I stated why I dont think mine runs up above.
Please correct me if I might be wrong.

its definatly the ECU. just put stock injectors and hooked the stock map sensor and it runs... just the IAVC plug doesnt stay on so i have to get a new one, but other than that, its doesnt smoke, it purrs like a kitten, and its ****** loud... anyways, im ready to put the turbo back on and tune this bitch!
