Default My 1/4 mile slips from this weekend!!

I was runnin my buddy in an 04 SVT FOcus.

The 15.7 was the (5th) last run and the 15.8 was the first run. In my buddy's 17.2 defense, he launched bad and missed 3rd like a n00b.

It was kinda funny.. My runs went like this:
15.8
15.9
16.0
16.1
15.7

I was launching around 4500 on the first and last launch, but was spinning a lil too much.. so in the 2-4th runs, i lowered my tire pressure and was launching differently.
There were no missed shifts (yay) but I did bounce the rev limiter in 3rd twice.

I did learn something so listen carefully all n00bies when you run:
We all hear how bad weight is.. well it's the freakin damn truth.

My buddy in the 04 SVT focus.. He pulled on me pretty good 2nd,3rd and 4th one night on the streets and I coudlnt belive it.. I thought for sure He woudlnt catch me on top end, since thats where my car shines.

On the track, we raced 4 times and I beat him all but one.. all but one I pulled on him, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, ecept one time:
The time I had a passenger.
170 lbs cost me a win and was enough for him to EVER so slightly pull on me FTW.

Made for a really cool in car video though I'll post another one when I get it on, hopefully today.

Thoughts, comments? No flaming on the time though, it's MY fault for the high 15's, not my cars fault.

Mods to my car as a generic CAI w/K&N.. thats it. It was my first time to the track and I left alot on the table (spare/jack still in trunk along w/misc stuff and s0 s0 driving).

Next time I go, I'll have the basic bolt ons done as well as some drag radials. W/some practice, I'll hit 14's.

your 60ft time is shitty.....I think your reving it to high.....average 60ft time should be in the 2.1-2.2 sec. Get that 60ft down and youll see low 15s....

Learn how to drive.

There was a guy in an EF 'Vic w/a K20, street tires, no LSD pullin 2.1-2.2 60' times...

Hes a damn good driver.

Runnin mid 13's. Said with slicks he'd be into the 12's and I belive em.

2.1 - 2.2 60ft are easy to get.........with motor inserts, clutch, traction bar, lsd, good set of tire, ajustable shocks, feathering clutch, proper driver etc...can help improve your 60ft

its called practice...... maybe next time, go with a better set of tires..... stock gsr's should be running low 15's to high 14's with a good driver. When my 94 GSR was pretty much stock (just i/h/e), I ran a consistant 14.8-15.0 depending on track and weather temperatures.

My trap speeds being lower may be from having smaller tires than factory.. there 50's.. and I knwo that'll make some diff. but the MPH shoudl be pretty much on.. My friend w/the SVT was trapping 1 mph above me and his cars 170 at the flywheel.

And I knwo it's not great time.. It's suppose to be a low 15 sec car and it is.. Just not at the moment with me driving it

But hey, it it was my first time runnin at a strip..gimme a lil break

This was towards the end of the night. I was running against an all motor 60 something VW bug. Moderate clutch slipage at launch to controll traction launched at 4500. 22psi in my bridgestone potenza re730's. Due to my slightly over used clutch (5th run of the night) i had some slipage into second gear. All in all not a bad run.

yet another run at bith-slow/spin city. conditions were good and I had brand-new es100s. I spun the 1-2 FT shift pretty nice, and the car kept accelerating which was good. I recorded my best time. Nothing else changed but the tires. I went home and recorded a compression test. motor is running well, 260-270 across the row.

This was my second time at the track, with not very many mods, I wanted to see what my car would do with a less restricted exhaust. So i ran a straight header (stock). I gained .4 sec on my time, and got into the 14's. I was not pleased w/ my traction and had some wheel hop due to my tires having bad camber wear on them. All and all this was my fastest run out of 8.

well ill leave you to your own devices dude...cause elevation has a lot to do with times...and when you browse an online database its not accounting for the differences in elevation...and im telling you since i actually live in florida and have been to that track...that a gsr should be trapping in the low 90's at that elevation...like i said a basically stock ls trapped 88 at that same track...that should tell you something

LS's don't have to shift into 4th.. I was having to.

I bet thats the reason why It's low.. I'm shifting, man, 20-30 ft b4 the finish into 4th.

Anybody else w/GSR's have to shift into 4th in the 1/4?
