anyone know how much shops charge to paint certain parts of your car.
some people are asying couple thousand and some people are saying couple hundred.
i need to repaint the top of my car because its starting to corrode due to car wax. i also need to paint the front bumper/hood because it has chipped paint due to highway rocks/pebbles.
the color of my car is black. 1996 gsr
also, when i get it painted.. is the new paint ganna look shinier and stand out more than the paint that was not painted over.

i read some DIY articles but i would rather have a professional do it.

 

That's tricky. Since the car is already 10 years old, it could be tough to match up the colors because of fading, etc. It all depends on how well your current paint has held up.

I'd say anywhere from $400-$600 to have someone do it for you. Just a guess though...

 

If I were you i'd just have the whole thing shot... Try and find a connection with paint through someone you konw.. I had this car painted.. The car had lots of dents and dings that were pulled out too.. I paid 800 for the everything

go to you local auto body and get it estimated....

 

Remember he said that is with a "hook-up". It is HIGHLY unlikely you will get quality full paint job walking in off the street for &gt;$2000, but it does depend on the area you live in. Some of the biggest difference you should ask about are how many coats of color, & clear, do they remove all the moldings and lights to do this or do they just mask everything off, what is the warranty? There is no magic # for coats of paint, but I would really be worried if they just mask everything off. It can be done "ok" but 1-2 years later when the paint is chipping away from the edges you will be pissed.

I was quoted $1500 to get my hood, front kit, fenders and doors repainted. But then again I live in Canada so that would probably be around $800 US for you.

 

I was quoted 2500 for paint with a perfect body..When they actual looked at the car it was 4500.....YIKES!!!

 

You get what you pay for with paint jobs.

my friend's painting mine black with a light silver flake for $600. he works for a body shop too.

 

if ur on long island pm me i will come to your house and do it. i own my own mobile paint detail shop on wheels. we got the permits for everything to spray and its garenteeed to come out mint or else we'll redo it

like the guy said above... You get what you pay for.. Especially from places like maaco and earl scheib.. They're all about quantity not quality

I was looking at that place in my town i was thinking about getting the one with the life time warranty but i think that it would be hard to get a paintjob that would be up to my standards for that cheap

 

As for ear schieb places and what not... If you do the prep work and body work, your car will actually come out looking decent.

When it comes to paint jobs, great prep work highly contributes to better paintjob results.

 

i have a White 99 ls and the bumper side pannel and hood and **** are all different color whites and its never bin repainted someone said this is due towards the heat heating up the metal faster than plastic causing the paint to fade but i wana jus spray the outer shell no door jams trunk or underhood how much are we talkin if its under 1k im in

free, my dad is a body man luckily, i helped him prep it and it completely done in a weekend

but around 800 sounds decent

decent?! that rediclously cheap! that kid with the black teg with the glass paint job got the deal of the century. my buddys dad does body work and charges an arm and a leg ($3500 $4000) and his paint jobs look like that one.
