gawd so confused about cable trannys
what is the codes for the cable trannys. and if it says ys1...how do you know that it is gsr/b16/ls????? their all the same damn numbers!?!? i know the s1 is ls cause that is what came with my stock ls da.
Give up on trying to figure out what cars the trannys were in, and focus mainly on the tranny specs, how short the gearing etc...
Thats the important part.

im just trying to figure out the best one to run in my car. and how to do i tell for sure that when people have a tranny, say a ys1, that thats a ls or xsi
ALL USDM 92-93 5sp Integras came with a cable trans code YS1.
There is no visual way to tell the difference. You can either put it in and check your rpm against some of the #s you will see at http://www.g2ic.com , or you can pull the case and start counting.
This same transmission was used in JP around 91-92 and had an option of LSD. Other cable trans will have codes like y1, s1, j1, a1.
You are assuming your LS with the S1 is all they had. You must have a 90-91, and there will be no gear difference in the 90-91 5sp trans. The difference is the the USDM 90-91 and JDM 89-90 trans have a smaller spline than the 92+ trans. All 92-01 "can" share the clutch disk, pressure plate and flywheel, but you would still have to use a bearing designed for the 90-93.
Bottom line, if you have an "LS" motor (B18A/B) IMO I would stick to the "long geared" cable trans. There are tons of guys that will spaz out and say they love the short geared trans, but that is not what the B18A/B was designed for.

This may or may not help. I can't tell you how accurate it is but you get the idea.

thanks for the help. i think i will go with the b16. but i think i am goin to sell my da so.....if you know anyone interested let me know.
well i am goin to keep the car for a lil bit longer. so what is a good tranny for the interstate? i travel almost 50 miles a day on the interstate.
A properly tuned DA can get 30+ MPG on the highway if you drive it right. And by "drive it right", I mean keep the RPMs low, short shift, be gentle with the pedal and not harsh, use mostly OEM parts, and if possible use gas from a TopTier provider (I have been using Shell 87 octane).
I drive 10 miles to work and 10 miles back. All on "local" streets where the speed limit is posted at 45MPH. I say this because I consider it mostly "city" driving since 1/2 of it is stop-n-go while the other 1/2 is 45MPH or lower. I got 25.8, 26.5 & 27.3MPG over the last 3 tanks. So I would stick to the S1 or YS1 for fuel economy with any non-VTEC B-series in a DA. If you do go for a shorter geared trans, you could consider swapping the "LS" 5th gear into it. It won't be the same, but some improvement.
